Established in 2005 as a home based freelance business, Second Shift Design has what it takes to seamlessly integrate two of the most important aspects of design - professionalism and creativity. During the company's infancy, the majority of the work was carried out on nights and weekends, which led to the idea for the name, Second Shift. Seven months after its inception, the company became incorporated as an LLC and continues to experience steady growth.

Fueled by the desire to provide each individual client with an unmatched commitment to excellence, Dave Smoak founded the company and simply won't rest until he's succeeded at making you look your best. The members of our team continue to work nights, weekends, or whatever it takes to get the job done in a timely manner with outstanding results.

Whether you desire to bring some creative change to your company's current look, or you're striving to be recognized as the company with the most professional and eye-catching image, we're ready to help you achieve your goals. Through the design of brochures, websites, merchandise, logos for your company or products, or any branding element, we can take your design status to the next level.

We invite you to get to know us, ask questions, browse our portfolio, and by all means, send your greatest design challenge our way! At the end of the day, you can rest easy knowing that the Second Shift is working for you.

Dave Smoak

Owner, Creative Director

Dave was born to do something creative. Since he was a wee lad, he’s never been seen without a pencil and pad. Once he arrived at the University of South Carolina, Dave realized that graphic design was his calling. After graduating with a degree in Advertising, Dave traveled to Atlanta, where he honed his skills as a graphic artist at the Portfolio Center.
Lately, he’s worked on such accounts as the Georgia Baptist Convention, AGCO Corporation, Dalton State College, Discovery Point Child Development Centers and I-Nine (an up-and-coming band) and now serves as the big cheese in Second Shift’s creative department.

Todd Woodlan

Web Guru

As Second Shift’s resident wordsmith/web programmer/assistant designer, Todd’s a Jack-of-all-Trades around the Creative Department. He picked up his writing skills from Emory University, where he graduated with a degree in English and Fine Arts. He spends his free time in front of a computer, where he programs and designs websites for a range of different clients. His latest have been Deconform Magazine, Brevard College and PRISM.

Jackie Hall

Copywriter

Jackie landed the role as Second Shift’s copywriter due to her proficiency at writing, editing and crafting material of just a few sentences to several pages. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Georgia, where she was often called upon by fellow students to assist with composing term papers and essays. One of her first jobs after college was as a Marketing Assistant for MAU, Inc., a human resource and staffing firm. During the five years that she worked for MAU, she aided in the drafting, editing, and design of brochures, ads, presentations, proposals, and quality control forms as used by the company. Jackie immensely enjoys turning lifeless copy into gold!
